Lesson Overview

ESL lesson looking at circular economy in the building and construction sector. Students will learn how the construction sector negatively influences the environment. This is due to its use of energy and natural resources and the waste it produces. They will see how the sustainability of this industry can be considerably increased by utilising the ideas related to the circular economy. 

It focuses on practising critical skills in listening, speaking, collaboration and critical thinking.  If used as a flipped ESL lesson, you will need at least 90 minutes to complete this lesson. However, the lesson can run up to 3 hours ( consider two  90-minute lessons or for university teachers to adjust as needed).

While targeting intermediate and upper-intermediate English language learners, it is highly adaptable as it has been purposely designed to facilitate mixed-level classes. This includes targeting professionals in a tertiary institution such as a university or professional environment.
