What causes high employee turnover?

ESL news-based lesson plan

Lesson Overview

In this lesson that addresses human resource management, ESL students will examine employee turnover. They will discuss what is employee turnover and what are the primary reasons for employee turnover. They see how a lack of growth opportunities, poor management, and inadequate remuneration could lead to high employee turnover. At the end of the lesson, students will be equipped with the relevant language structures to speak about the topic.

It focuses on practising critical skills in listening, speaking, collaboration and critical thinking.  If used as a flipped ESL lesson, you will need at least 90 minutes to complete this lesson. However, lessons can run up to 3 hours ( consider two  90-minute lessons or for university teachers to adjust as needed).

While targeting intermediate and upper-intermediate English language learners, it is highly adaptable as it has been purposely designed to facilitate mixed-level classes. This includes targeting professionals in a tertiary institution such as a university or professional environment.
